Daniel Fulwiler has dedicated his career of over 30 years to improving health care for the underserved.  Through unstinting focus on changing systems to meet the needs of communities, he has pushed forward an agenda of delivering the highest quality care to those who struggle with the greatest inequities of the American healthcare system.  Dan is passionate about public health and community health, and has worked hard to make sure that health care systems are deeply involved  in the communities they  serve.     

After 30 years working on the provider side of the safety net, Dan now serves as Hospital Strategy Lead in the Illinois Department of of Public Health, where he is detailed to the Deputy Governor for Health and Human Services to create and implement strategies to strengthen Illinois’ safety net.
